Bracing for Ike...

My brother and his family live in Houston, Texas and are bracing themselves for a whammy of a storm as Hurricane Ike approaches. Hopefully they are far enough inland that they won't get the brunt of the storm. We are all hoping and praying for the best, but I'm sure another prayer or two wouldn't hurt -- especially for those nearest the coast.

UPDATE 9/15/08: My parent's were able to talk to my brother last night and they are all well. Ike went right over their house but somehow they were spared. They hauled all their mattresses into the family room Friday night and stayed together. I guess two of the kids managed to sleep right through it. They did lose their power and aren't sure when it will be restored. They drove around aftewards to check out the damage. Some homes were crushed by giant trees and there was some flooding. My brother said that it broke his heart to see the damage, but he felt extremely blessed. We are glad they are safe, and I appreciate all your prayers on their behalf.

I've also got a close friend in Houston so I'll add your family to my prayers in keeping them safe.

We dont get extremes of weather quite like this in England. Really scarey.
The last few years we have had such a lot of rain that there have been a many floods and high winds.
We also are not getting our share of sunshine. England is maybe safer, but pretty grey these days.
Glad your family are safe.

Thank goodness they are OK. They have had some bad weather down there the last few years. My goodness. Did they ever get their power back on? I heard that there were still a lot without power.
