8:30pm - go back to condo, load up fridge/freezer food
9:00 - 11:00pm - go back to new place. Start unpacking
11:30pm - go to sleep

This was a 15 hour day. Of those 15 hours, 13 of them were spent on my feet. They were swollen when I went to bed.

Saturday:

7:30am - wake up. Entire body aches.
7:35am - take Ibuprofen. Lay back down.
8:00am - shower
8:30am - lay down (much too stiff and tired to move around)

11:45am - friends leave
12:00 - 1:00pm - unpack

7:00pm - go to my friends house for a pizza/movie party
11:30pm - come home
11:30 - 12:30am - talk to my roommate
12:30am (really 1:30am due to daylight savings) - go to bed

Sunday:

All I wanted to do this day was take a nap (not counting the one I took during sacrament meeting). See how well that turned out!!

7:00am - wake up
9:00 - 12:30pm - go to church
1:00 - 2:00pm - help my roommate do her visiting teaching
2:00 - 3:00pm - run to my parents to check on the house and pick up a few things
3:00 - 4:00pm - talk to my sister on the phone
4:00 - 5:00pm - home teachers
5:00 - 6:00pm - make/eat dinner
6:00 - 7:00pm - practice song for ward talent show
7:00 - 10:00pm - REST*
10:30pm - go to bed

What I really need now is sleep. And lots of it.

*rest does not equal sleep. During this time I checked my email, wrote in my journal and just relaxed. It was the first time ALL weekend I got to do that!

My New Abode...

Well, as promised, here are a few pictures of my new place. Like I said before, I am really enjoying it here. My roommates are great and the location great.

Here's my building. We live on the middle floor:

Here's the entrance to my apt. Go up the first flight of stairs and knock on the door to the right:

Here's my kitchen:

And the big screen TV I love to watch! My roommate has an identical TV in her bedroom which is kind of loud for me to be in my room at times...so I watch this TV instead. Love it!!

This is the cute cupboard that my other roommate (who I share a bathroom with) put up so that we'd have a little more storage space. I think it makes our bathroom SO cute! As does the cute purple shower curtain.

So there ya have it! I sure hope that I will have a lot of visitors so they can see it in person!

Out With the Old....

When I moved away to college 10 years ago (ugh, I feel old) I had purchased some stuff at the DI (where I worked that summer) for really cheap. I wasn't too concerned about the looks of the stuff as I was an extremely poor college student. At the time, I just wanted something to get me by. Well, it has now been six years since I have graduated from college and I find that I am STILL using that stuff. The entertainment center I purchased for $7.00 still sits in my bedroom and I refuse to get rid of it*.

However, due to the changes in digital TV that will be coming next February, I decided that it was probably time I upgraded to a new TV and got rid of this dinosaur of a TV that I had purchased for $3.75:

I have to admit that it wasn't easy for me to part with this TV. Though my family would laugh over the fact that I still had to stand up to change the dial, this TV has literally got me through 10 years of TV watching. It still works great. But we all know that good things have to come to an end eventually. So on moving day my parent's hauled it off to the DI where hopefully it will find another good home. In the meantime, I went out and bought a new TV:

It is still the same size as the old one (19") which is perfect for my little bedroom (and I usually watch TV on the big screen in the front room) but it takes up a lot less space, AND it only weighs 14 lbs so it's much easier to carry. I also have to admit that it is nice to be able to change the channels while still sitting on my bed, rather than having to get up every 10 minutes.

So I guess it's time for me to say goodbye to the dark ages and enter the world of digital technology.

*My family has informed me that the next time I move, the entertainment center will be chopped up and used for firewood.

Moving Day...

This post is a few days late in coming, but I couldn't get the pictures until my computer at home was all hooked up. But Saturday was moving day! I actually took Friday off work so I could get things organized before my family showed up at 10am the next day. My mom came and helped and together we hauled a load of stuff to storage and another load of stuff to my new place. Then after she left at 4:00pm I spent until 8:00pm packing more boxes and cleaning out my room. Who knew it would be such a process!

Packing up my old room:

Then Saturday morning I hauled all those boxes out of my room and downstairs so my family wouldn't have to do it. And this way my brother and brother-in-law were able to move the furniture out without having to step over boxes.

I had so many helpers (from ages 3 on up) that were willing to haul stuff. Even if it was "too heavy" the little ones were still involved.

My new room*:

With the help of 11 people, 1 truck, 1 suv, 1 van and 1 car, we had everything hauled out of the old place and into the new place in two hours! Way to go team! So far I am loving my new abode (the big screen TV in the front room is definitely a bonus!)

*More pictures of the new place are forthcoming.

Comfy Living...

For the past 3 weeks my friend and I have been trying to find a new place to live and throughout this process, I have learned a few things:

1 - Apartment rates go up faster than my raises do.

2 - When an apartment complex advertises their complex at a certain price, they don't actually mean that price. That's just the "base" price before they tack on all the extra "fees".

3 - Water, sewer, trash and parking are no longer included in the rent. These are the "fees" referred to above.

4 - With what I get paid and with the way the housing market is right now, I will never be able to afford a house or rent a place that is larger and more stable than my car.

It has been quite a long and discouraging (and sometimes frustrating) process. It would be nice to have it over with. But, we still don't have a place to live, so the search continues...
